The theory test
Two parts, taken in one sitting. You need to pass both on the same day, and you cannot book your practical test until you have.
Multiple choice
- questions
- 50
- minutes to answer them
- 57
- right answers to pass
- 43
Fifty questions on a touchscreen, in 57 minutes, and you need 43 right to pass. You get a practice run first to get used to the screen, so the real thing is not the first time you have seen it.
Hazard perception
- video clips
- 14
- marks available
- 75
- marks to pass
- 44
After a short break you watch 14 video clips of ordinary road scenes. Each has at least one developing hazard, and one clip has two. You click when you spot a hazard developing, and the earlier you spot it the more you score — five is the most any single hazard is worth. The pass mark is 44 out of 75.
You only get one go at each clip. You cannot go back and change an answer, which is deliberate — on the road you would not get a second look either.
How we help
Theory and hazard perception tuition is included with your lessons at no extra cost. Hazard perception is the part that practice actually fixes, so it is worth doing more than the night before.
Book your test and check the current fee on GOV.UK. Once you have passed, read up on the practical test.
Ready when you are
£40 an hour, manual or automatic. No booking fee, nothing to pay up front, and free pick up across Slough, Langley, Datchet, Iver and Windsor.
